Hmmmm, Where Does Time Go?

Here’s what I think.  If you want to make changes, you have to determine not just what you want, but how bad you truly want it.  What are you willing to do to get it?  What’s keeping you from getting what you want?  Seriously, People, we’ve got to stop using time as an excuse for not getting what we truly want or just simply living the best life possible.  With just a bit of determination, time management, and a tons of positive thinking, we’re finally going to get this show on the road.

Step 1: This week, we’re picking two measurable goals that we really want to accomplish this week, but haven’t “found” the time to do them.  

  • For me?  That would have to be running three days for at least one mile or more and organizing/cleaning my work bags.  

Step 2: Make a list of all of the things that keep you from accomplishing those two goals (Pure laziness on my part).  Of course, lack of time is an easy cop-out, but really, why aren’t you returning your best friend’s call or is catching up on the latest Revenge episode more important?  Maybe it is, but that’s for you to decide. 

Step 3: Once you have your goals and your obstacles, get your detective tool box ready because we’re going on a hunt for Mr. Time.  For one day (preferably, today or tomorrow), write down what you’re doing throughout the day and the time frame for each activity.  

Step 4: Prioritize, Prioritize, Prioritize!  At the end of the day, look over your list and determine where you’re “wasting” the most time (Use a highlighter, crayon, pen, circle, or whatever to emphasize the time of day you’re not making the most of your time).  By visually seeing where you’re losing time, you will finally be able to see possible opportunities to make time for the things you really want or need to do.  If you’re watching five hours of television at one time, you may want to gradually scale back and use some of that time for taking a stroll around the block, tidying up around the house, or finally calling up your friend.  

You get where I’m going with this?  Awesome!
