“Does sex count as exercise?,” says the friend.
“Only if you’re having it,” I reply.
“How many calories can you burn?” she grins.
“Depends on the motion of the ocean, my friend”
And you thought only guys talk this way? Think again! For those of you who may be looking for a new activity to jazz up your exercise routine, you may want to consider this. (Sorry, mom and dad!)
Yes, sex can count as exercise, but it could also save your relationship, hell, some doctors believe it can even add years to your life. I would like to keep this blog out of the PG-13 rating if possible so I won’t get into the scientific and Kama Sutra bits of the matter. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun!
Why not consider sex as exercise? I mean, if you’re doing the work, it’s gotta count for something, right? For those of you who have dropped a significant amount of weight, are toning up, or have found that throughout your journey you have an immense amount of energy, you may very well know already that sex is even better when you feel good about your body. Now this doesn’t mean you have to become a porn star, but you should enjoy yourself and I know your partner will have no complaints.
So exactly how many calories does one burn from “doing it?” Well, it goes a little something like this.
Don’t skip the foreplay…
Kissing for an hour could burn 68+ calories
Undressing: 8+ calories
Massage: 80+ calories
……..tired of foreplay and want to jump straight into action?
144 calories per half-hour from having sex.
Giving oral sex: 100 calories per half-hour
Using your hands: 100 calories per hour
…..not in the mood and just want to do a little romantic dancing?
103 calories per half-hour.
Round two? You do the math!!!
